Laundromat For Sale - Is This the Right Time to Buy?

The recession is over. Many people who are still unemployed believe that their best option is to start a new business, buy an existing one, or franchise a business. They now have to choose the type of business they want and what business model they prefer. There are many options. This is especially true for many small-business owners who have been there before and are ready to sell Hotel Laundry Equipment.

A friend suggested the idea of purchasing an existing laundromat. Previously they had considered starting a service-based business that they could work 9-5 hours. They realized that the service business was too difficult and required more work than they expected. So they started looking into business models that could be run by themselves.

Although they appear to be virtual, coin-op Laundromats are not absentee-type businesses. This is especially true if they offer "Fluff and Fold” drop-off services. It isn't as simple as it seems. It is not possible to have "absentee" ownership of a business. That is baloney. Even if you are convinced that it is, it is not. There are other similar businesses.

Water shortages in the region are another important factor to consider. Did you know that in drought conditions, Level II droughts see laudromats cut down on water, and Level III droughts may see them shutting down many of them. This is because it is not essential water use to have too much laundromats. Of course, this all depends on the city's drought disaster planning, so fair warning.

The issue of energy usage will also be a concern, particularly if the Cap and Trade Bill is passed. As energy costs skyrocket and some even predict they may triple, this could become a serious problem. Laundromats were decimated a decade ago when energy costs tripled. They cannot meet their profit projections. This can impact your bottom line, whether you are a sole proprietor or partner in a laundromat. These energy-intensive machines will cost your business a lot of money, and your customers will be less likely to use them. This will only make matters worse.

New equipment is expensive. Who knows if mandatory regulations will be set for energy efficiency standards. This could also come as a surprise. And look at all the new regulations that the government has been imposing in many industries. According to industry experts, how long is that machine's useful life? Are they covered by a warranty or lease with repairs services contract? You need to be careful about what those contracts mean.

These are some things you should think about before buying a used laundromat to begin your entrepreneurial ventures. These are just a few of the things you should consider.
